How to play Number Merge 2048

Slide a four-by-four number board, combine equal tiles, and work toward the 2048 tile. Combine matching numbers while preserving enough empty space for the next move. The game starts immediately in the browser and is designed for a short break, but the local best-score system gives repeated rounds a clear target.

Use the Arrow keys on a keyboard. On mobile, swipe across the game surface or use the four direction buttons. Every valid move shifts all tiles in the selected direction.

Rules and scoring

Two equal tiles merge when they meet, producing one tile with twice the value. Each merge adds the new value to the score. A new 2 or 4 tile appears after every valid move. The round ends when the board is full and no neighboring values can merge.

The status panel above the game shows the most useful information for the current mode. Results are saved only when browser storage is available. A saved result belongs to the current browser and device rather than a public account.

Strategy and improvement tips

Keep the largest tile in one corner and avoid moving it away without a clear reason. Build descending rows next to that corner, protect open cells, and check whether a move will trap a small tile behind larger ones.

Short, consistent sessions usually produce better improvement than frantic repeated inputs. Learn how the game responds, look one step ahead, and use the restart button when you want a clean attempt.
